Paralympic Agitos

The three interlocking arcs of the Paralympic Agitos sculpture sit in central London as a permanent reminder of the 2012 Games. It's a striking piece of public art - genuinely bold in scale, all sweeping curves and that distinctive red, blue and green finish. You'll find it on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, which makes it easy to visit without faffing about with postcodes.

This isn't a museum or an attraction with queues. It's a sculpture you can walk round, admire, and photograph from various angles. The symbolism of the Agitos - movement and progression - reads clearly even if you're not fixated on Olympic history. Takes about fifteen minutes to see it properly, maybe twenty if you're the type who likes reading the plaques and thinking about what 2012 meant.

Family groups get something out of it, particularly if the kids have an interest in the Paralympics or the Games generally. It's also decent for a quick stop if you're walking round the park itself, which has proper landscaping and open space worth exploring. The whole Olympic Park area has museums and attractions nearby if you want to make a day of it.

If you're camping at Lee Valley just north in Edmonton, the Agitos is about twenty minutes away by car or train - reasonable enough for a morning visit before heading elsewhere. It's free to look at, and there's no entrance fee because it's outdoor public art. Go when it's not raining if you can, because the colours really pop in decent light.
