About Palgrave Park
This isn't a manicured tourist spot. You're here to walk, to look for birds and insects, maybe to sit for a bit and let the quiet settle. Families with young children will find it decent enough for an hour or so, though toddlers might get frustrated by the sandy tracks. Serious birdwatchers and naturalists will spend a full morning here and still feel like they've missed things. The heath flowers best in summer - ling and bell heather turning the whole place purple-bronze.
Getting to Eye first gives you somewhere for a coffee and a proper look at the town itself, which has proper character. From there Palgrave is a short drive east. Hill Farm Suffolk, just up the road, makes a solid base if you're doing a few days in the area - you can walk here in decent weather, or take a car and explore the wider Suffolk countryside. Free to access, no fixed opening hours that I can find - it's one of those places where you turn up when you fancy it and the gates are always open. Allow two to three hours if you're serious about it.
