Water and climbing frames - that's the basic appeal of this spot just outside Ripon. The paddling pool itself is shallow enough for toddlers to wade about safely, though it's only worth visiting during warmer months when the water temperature isn't absolutely brass monkeys. The play park attached to it keeps older kids occupied for a good hour or so, depending on their age and energy levels.

It's genuinely useful if you're staying at Riverside Meadows Caravan Park down the road - close enough for a mid-afternoon break without needing to pack the car up entirely. Same goes for Woodhouse Farm Holiday Park, which is a bit further but still manageable. The whole thing feels like a proper local facility rather than a destination attraction, which means it works best when you've got young children and you're after something low-key to break up your holiday rather than something to plan your trip around.

The surrounding area has enough going on - Ripon itself is worth a poke around - but this isn't a "make a special journey" kind of place. If you're camped nearby with small kids and the weather's decent, absolutely go. If you're planning a North Yorkshire break and weighing up options, there's enough quality attractions in the region that this won't be your highlight. Check opening times and water temperature before heading over, particularly if you're going early or late in the season.
