You've got moored narrowboats, a decent café-bar setup, and enough walking space along the towpath to stretch your legs properly. It's the sort of place where you can spend an hour wandering around, grabbing a coffee, and watching the occasional boat potter past - low-key but properly done.

Families with younger kids will find it manageable for a morning visit, though it's not exactly a full day's entertainment. You're really here for the canal-side atmosphere rather than activities. The water is calming, the setting feels removed from the main town bustle, and there's a café that serves proper food rather than the usual tourist fare.

The big draw, frankly, is that it pairs well with the caravan parks nearby. Castle Farm Campsite is just 3.7 miles away and gets consistently top marks - as does Brightside, about 5 miles out. If you're based at either of those for a week, this makes an easy afternoon detour. Bring a picnic if the café doesn't appeal, or just sit on the benches and watch the narrowboat owners tinker with their vessels.
