Oundle Marina

The Nene River widens into a proper working marina just outside Oundle, and it's genuinely pleasant if you're in the area - though it's less of a destination and more of a spot to stretch your legs between other things. You'll find narrowboats moored up, a handful of cafes, and decent riverside paths if the weather's decent. The water's calm enough for families to mill about without drama, and there's enough activity to keep kids interested for a bit - watching the boats come and go, spotting the odd swan.

Walkers get the most from this place, frankly. The towpaths work well either direction, and it's a natural stopping point between Peterborough and the wider Nene Valley. Budget an hour if you're stopping for a coffee, or three if you're making it part of a longer riverside walk. Early morning is quieter; weekends can get a bit busy with the leisure boat crowd.

If you're camping at Castle Farm Campsite or Brightside Caravan Park nearby, the marina's worth a wander to break up the day. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's a solid little spot without being contrived about it. Grab a coffee, watch the boating traffic, and move on - that's the rhythm here. Nothing pretentious, which is exactly why it works.
