Ogo Dour

You'll find Ogo Dour tucked away near Helston, a proper cave system that rewards anyone willing to seek it out. The entrance is modest - nothing flashy - but once you're in, the rock formations and the sheer fact that you're underground in Cornwall tends to shift perspective. It's the sort of place that feels genuinely off the beaten track, even though it's close enough to town for a half-day visit.

The cave itself is manageable for families with older kids and anyone who doesn't mind a bit of scrambling. Expect narrow passages, interesting geological formations, and that peculiar cave stillness where sound behaves differently. You won't need specialist equipment, though a torch and sturdy shoes matter.
