North Hants Golf Club

Golf at North Hants isn't some municipal track - it's a proper members' course on the outskirts of Wokingham with a serious pedigree. The layout winds through woodland with enough elevation change to keep you honest, and the greens are immaculate. If you've got a handicap and know someone who plays, it's worth a round.

This is for golfers only, realistically. Non-players won't find much to do here beyond watching from the clubhouse, and that loses its appeal fast. The course itself plays somewhere around 6,500 yards depending on which tees you choose - testing without being punishing.

Access is members and guests only, so you'll need an invite or a reciprocal arrangement with your own club. Call ahead before making the trip. Allow a solid four hours for eighteen holes, longer if the course is busy on weekends.

For a golf holiday in the area, this works alongside courses nearer Basingstoke and Reading rather than as a standalone destination. If you're staying at California Chalet just six miles away, North Hants makes a decent morning round before heading back for lunch. The terrain around Wokingham is pleasantly rolling rather than spectacular, so manage your expectations accordingly - you're here for the golf itself, not the views.
