Spring and early summer are the obvious times, though honestly the meadow looks decent right through to autumn if you catch it after a cut.

If you're based at Gayton Farm or Highfield Farm further out, it's still a straightforward drive in. Not a destination on its own, but the sort of worthwhile detour that breaks up a park-based holiday nicely.
