Norie-Miller Walk

The walk winds along the River Tay through woodland that feels properly removed from Perth, despite being just outside town. You're following a path that locals have been using for years - it's got that worn-in quality that tells you something right. The river itself is the real draw here: wide, occasionally dramatic, lined with mature trees that change character with the seasons.

Walkers will find this one straightforward and rewarding. It's not a lung-busting hill trek - more a gentle meander that lets you actually notice things. The stretch of riverbank means you'll spot wildlife if you're patient, though don't expect the place to be empty on weekends. The walk itself takes a couple of hours without rushing, manageable for families with older kids, though the path can get muddy after rain.

It works well as a break from the camping sites around Perth - Scone Camping Club Site and Perth Caravan Park are both within a few miles, so you can do this in a morning and still have the afternoon free. Newmill Farm is a touch further out but worth considering if you want somewhere quieter to base yourself. There's no visitor centre or café, so bring what you need. It's free access, which is always a bonus. Come in autumn and the light through the trees is something else - spring's decent too, though midday in summer can feel a bit exposed without shade for stretches.
