The house sits quietly on the outskirts of Newbridge, all cream-coloured stone and eighteenth-century restraint. Newliston is the sort of place that rewards lingering rather than rushing - a country estate that feels genuinely lived-in rather than museum-sterile.

Inside, you'll find period rooms decked out with furniture and paintings that actually belonged there, not loan collections from elsewhere. The gardens are the real draw though. The grounds sweep down to a pond with a proper wee temple on an island, and there's woodland to wander through if you've got the energy. On a clear day the views open up across the Lothians.
