Mynydd Llangeinwyr - Werfa

The walk up Mynydd Llangeinwyr - Werfa isn't particularly long, but the climb is proper steep in places and the reward is a view across Neath Port Talbot that genuinely surprises you. On a clear day you can see all the way to the coast, and inland towards the Brecon Beacons - the industrial landscape of Port Talbot sprawls beneath you like some kind of map.

It's a walker's hill rather than a destination in itself. The peak sits at 321 metres, which in Welsh terms makes it a decent little climb, and the path gets genuine use. You'll likely share it with locals who know the quickest routes. The terrain is moorland - rough grass, a few stones, nothing technically difficult, but your calves will know about it if you're not used to the gradient.

Best tackled on a dry day because the ground gets boggy after rain. Allow two to three hours if you're not rushing, which you shouldn't be - the views deserve a proper stop at the top. History buffs might note the industrial archaeology visible from up there, though this isn't somewhere you come for heritage sites or facilities.

Willow Springs Campsite is within easy reach at 3.8 miles, making this a natural day walk if you're staying in the area. It works well alongside exploring the broader Neath Port Talbot countryside - not a destination to plan a whole trip around, but absolutely the kind of thing that makes a park holiday feel properly used rather than just lazy.
