The walk itself takes you through farmland and moorland - nothing dramatic, just honest Welsh hillside. Allow two to three hours for a full outing depending on your pace and which route you take from the village.

This works brilliantly if you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots - Erwain Escapes or Head For The Hills are close enough that you could do it as a morning mission before settling back at camp. The peak suits walkers more than casual strollers; small children might find the terrain a bit relentless. Groups keen on getting some proper leg work done will find it satisfying without needing to be super fit.

Timing matters here. Go on a decent weather day or you'll spend most of the climb in cloud. Autumn works particularly well - the light is better and the crowds are thin.
