Mungells Lake

The lake itself is modest - a proper local spot rather than a destination in its own right. You've got a pleasant walk around the water, but don't expect dramatic scenery or the kind of views that'll stay with you for weeks. It's the sort of place Wokingham residents pop to on a Sunday afternoon, and fair play to them.

The main appeal is straightforward: a gentle circuit with decent woodland framing one side, and if you catch it right - say mid-week in autumn - it's properly peaceful. Ducks, the occasional fisherman, locals with dogs. The walk takes about an hour without rushing, and there are benches dotted around if you fancy sitting still for a bit.

Families with young kids will get a solid hour here, maybe ninety minutes if they're into spotting birds or feeding ducks (check the rules first). It's not going to exhaust anyone, which means it pairs well with other bits of the Wokingham area rather than standing alone as a half-day outing. If you're based at California Chalet & Touring Park down the road, it's worth the short drive as a gentle break between more substantial days out.

There's no entrance fee, no opening hours to worry about - just turn up. The car park is small but free. It's bog-standard, honest walking territory: nice enough, but you're not going out of your way for it unless you're already in the area.
