Mundesley Gun Emplacement (MNF14112)

The gun emplacement itself is the skeletal remains of a coastal fortification, built to ward off German invasion during the darkest days of the war. Walking around the site, you can still make out the gun positions and the blast walls, though nature's doing its work reclaiming the concrete. It's not flashy, and it won't take hours to explore, but it's genuinely atmospheric on a grey afternoon.

History buffs will find it worthwhile - the kind of place that makes you think about what life was like for soldiers stationed here, scanning the North Sea for enemy vessels. Families with kids aged ten and up might appreciate it as part of a wider coastal walk, though younger children could lose interest quickly. It's east of Norwich, making it a natural add-on if you're staying at Two Mills Touring Park or Manor Caravan Park nearby. Best visited on a clearer day when you can actually see across to where the threat once came from. The wind off the sea is relentless, so dress properly.
