Millennium Green

The Millennium Green sits just outside Ludlow, a modest nature reserve that does exactly what it says on the tin without pretending to be anything grander. It's a working bit of local conservation - wet meadows, woodland edges, and open grassland that shifts with the seasons. Spring brings the wildflowers. Summer's when you'll spot butterflies and dragonflies properly. Autumn walks here are decent if you fancy something low-key.

This isn't a destination in itself, to be honest. It's the sort of place you pop into for an hour if you're already in the Ludlow area, perhaps between visiting the castle or exploring the town's food scene. Families with young children who need a quick run-around will find it useful. Serious birdwatchers might spend longer with binoculars, though nothing particularly rare shows up regularly. The walking is gentle - no steep climbs, no scrambling.

Monstay Farm Campsite, just 2.6 miles away, also makes sense if you want something with a bit more greenery around your pitch. The reserve links well with wider walks around Ludlow itself, so you could combine it with proper hiking in the surrounding countryside rather than treating it as your sole stop.
