Megaw Park

The walk up to Megaw Park isn't long, but it's steep enough that you'll notice it. Once you're at the top though, you get proper views across the Causeway Coast - the kind that make the slight huff worth it. This is a working landscape rather than a manicured attraction, which honestly is part of its appeal.

It's the sort of place that rewards a decent pair of boots and an afternoon. Walkers will get the most from it - there's enough ground to cover without it being exhausting, and the paths are straightforward. Families with older kids might enjoy the views and a bit of rambling, though younger ones could get restless if they're expecting playgrounds or facilities. There aren't really any, which is precisely why it feels genuine.

Bushmills is just down the road, so it slots nicely into a Causeway Coast itinerary alongside the Giant's Causeway or a whiskey distillery visit. If you're staying at somewhere like Thornfield Farm's glamping pods near the Dark Hedges - about six miles away - Megaw Park makes an easy morning or afternoon detour without derailing your plans.

Go when it's not absolutely bucketing down, and allow a couple of hours to potter about without rushing. The light's best in the late afternoon if the weather's playing ball. It's not the sort of destination that'll dominate your holiday, but if you're in the area and you like walking, it's absolutely worth the drive.
