Medieval Town Wall Open Space

The Medieval Town Wall at Great Yarmouth isn't what you'd expect from the name. Rather than some dramatic fortress ruin, you're looking at a green open space that's genuinely interesting if you know what happened here. The town wall itself - or what remains of it - forms the bones of this nature reserve, and walking the perimeter gives you a proper sense of how the medieval town was defended, even if the stonework is long gone.

It's a walk rather than a destination, really. You'll spot fragments of the original wall, and the open grassland attracts local wildlife - nothing spectacular, but pleasant enough on a decent day. History types will appreciate standing where merchants once watched for trouble from the sea.
