The Main Pool sits just outside Atherstone in Warwickshire, a proper working lake that's been part of the landscape for generations. It's not a fancy leisure complex or a manicured beauty spot - it's a genuine water body where locals fish, walk the banks, and families bring kids to feed the ducks.

The appeal is straightforward. You get decent views across the water, a decent walk around the perimeter if you're after a bit of exercise, and enough space to sit quietly without feeling hemmed in by crowds. On a bright day it's pleasant enough, though it won't blow your mind. The banks are accessible in most places, though some stretches get a bit muddy after rain.

It works best for people after a gentle stroll rather than a major attraction. Fair warning though - don't expect dramatic scenery or facilities. There's no café, no car park to speak of, and no entrance fee because it's just a lake.
