The waterside path is decent if you're not after anything strenuous, and in decent weather it's the sort of place you'd pop to mid-afternoon just to stretch your legs and clear your head.

Families will get the most from it - there's space to kick a ball around, and the river keeps younger children entertained for longer than you'd expect. It's free, as these things should be, and you can do a quick loop in twenty minutes or dawdle for an hour if you're in no rush. Early morning or late afternoon beats the midday crowd, though honestly it's never rammed.
