Ludlow Market

Saturday morning in Ludlow, and the market square fills up properly. Stalls spread across the medieval town centre selling everything from local cheese to vintage books, farm veg, flowers, the odd bit of tat. It's genuinely busy - the sort of place where you bump into locals who've been shopping there for decades alongside tourists just passing through.

The market runs year-round, though Saturday's the main day when it feels alive. You'll find proper stallholders here, not chain-store knock-offs. Ludlow's a foodie town at heart, so expect better quality produce than you might get elsewhere. The bakers are decent, the meat counter shifts fresh stock, and there's usually someone selling local cider or perry.

It's free to wander, no time limit - though you could cover it in forty minutes if you're just grabbing lunch. Families do fine here, kids don't get bored because there's movement and noise and something changing every few stalls. Not the sort of attraction you'd plan a day around on its own, but absolutely worth an hour while you're exploring Ludlow's castle, shops and restaurants.

If you're staying at Ludlow Touring & Holiday Home Park just down the road, or further out at Monstay Farm or Woodland Escapes, the market's an easy walk into town. Saturday morning's the time to go - weekday mornings are quieter, which some prefer, but you'll miss half the energy. Arrive early if you want best pick of the sausages.
