Lochy Park

The River Lochy cuts through woodland here just outside Blairgowrie, and Lochy Park is where locals come to stretch their legs without faffing about. It's a straightforward nature reserve - footpaths wind through mature trees, there's water to look at, and you'll likely spot woodland birds if you're quiet about it. The whole thing feels properly managed without being over-engineered, which is refreshing.

Walkers get the most from this. It's not challenging terrain, so families with young kids will manage fine, though honestly there's only so long they'll want to poke around the trees before getting restless. If you're into spotting wildlife or photography, the riverside sections are decent. There's nothing commercial about the place - no café, no visitor centre - which means it stays peaceful and, frankly, feels like an actual walk rather than a ticketed experience.

Allow an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you're the type who stops to identify every tree. Best visited when the light's decent, so not worth dragging yourself there in rain unless you're seriously committed to the outdoors.

It slots in nicely as a morning walk if you're staying at Blairgowrie Holiday Park just down the road, or Corriefodly and Five Roads if you're further afield. Keeps you mobile on a holiday without demanding much effort. Not the most dramatic nature reserve you'll see in Perthshire, but solid for a peaceful hour in the woods.
