Lochore Meadows Country Park North Access to Benarty Bay Car Park

The northern car park at Lochore Meadows is where you want to be if you're after proper waterside walking without the fuss. You get straight into Benarty Bay from here - a shallow, reed-fringed corner of the loch that genuinely feels separate from the rest. Waders wade, birds do their thing, and you're stood there thinking this doesn't feel like it should be five miles from Dunfermline.

It's a nature reserve in the truest sense. The bay is designated for wildlife, so this isn't a spot for swimming or paddling about. What you're doing is looking, listening, and walking the perimeter paths. Birdwatchers will have a field day, especially in winter when the migrating ducks and geese pile in. Even in summer there's enough to keep binoculars trained for a solid hour or two.

The access itself is straightforward - pull in at the car park, pick your direction, and go. Most people loop around the bay side, which takes you through some pleasant mixed woodland before opening onto the water. The path is well-trodden and flat, so no scrambling required. Allow two hours if you're doing the full circuit at a leisurely pace.
