It's a short walk from the roadside, though the path can be boggy depending on the weather, and you won't find facilities or crowds here. Worth an hour if you're based at Loch Ness Highland Resort and fancy a break from the bigger loch's tourist hustle. Walkers will appreciate the solitude, and the views across the Highlands from the water's edge are decent on a clear day. It's not a destination in itself - you wouldn't drive here specifically - but if you're exploring the glens around Fort Augustus, it's a worthwhile detour. The light can be lovely in early morning or late afternoon, which matters more here than at the more visited spots nearby. Allow 90 minutes including the walk and time to sit by the water. Go when it's not raining, because there's nothing to shelter under and wet moorland loses its appeal fast.
