Loch Linnhe Viewpoint

The view across Loch Linnhe hits you properly when you round the corner near Appin. This isn't one of those viewpoints where you queue with a hundred other tourists - it's a genuine stopping point that locals actually use, and that makes all the difference.

What you're looking at is the loch itself stretching out in front of you, with the hills rising up on the far side. On a clear day the light does something rather lovely across the water. The viewpoint itself is straightforward - a pull-in area where you can get out, stretch your legs, and take it in. No visitor centre, no facilities, no faffing about. Just the view and the Argyll landscape doing what it does best.

If you're stopping here as part of a wider park holiday - and Creagan Station Tourers is only a few miles down the road - it's well worth the five-minute detour. Families with younger kids might spend twenty minutes here, older walkers could linger longer depending on the light. Bring a decent camera if you've got one; the reflections can be rather striking when the water's calm.

Best visited when the weather's cooperating, naturally. Rain doesn't help the view much, and low cloud can make the whole thing a bit of a non-event. But catch it on one of those clear Scottish days and you'll understand why people make the effort to stop here.
