Little Bamff waterfall

The walk to Little Bamff waterfall takes you through proper Scottish countryside just outside Blairgowrie, and it's genuinely one of those places where the journey matters as much as the destination. You'll find yourself following a woodland path that winds alongside a burn, with the sound of water growing louder as you approach. The waterfall itself isn't massive - expect something intimate rather than dramatic - but that's rather the point. It's a lovely spot for a ramble, especially after rain when the flow picks up and the whole thing feels more substantial.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's not a long trek, maybe thirty minutes return from the car park depending on fitness, but the terrain is proper woodland underfoot so decent boots help. Families with young kids might find it a bit damp and slippery in places, though older children who enjoy pottering about in nature will be content. There's no visitor centre or facilities - you're going for the walk and the water, nothing else.

Free to visit, obviously. Timing-wise, spring and autumn tend to work best. Summer can be muggy under the trees, and winter turns it all a bit treacherous. If you're based at Nethercraig or Five Roads - both excellent parks just down the road - this pairs well with a day exploring the wider Blairgowrie area. Worth the detour for walkers, but don't expect a destination attraction. Go for the woods, stay for the water.
