Linney Riverside Park

The Linney is a proper slice of riverside walking country just outside Ludlow, where the Teme winds through a stretch of Herefordshire that feels genuinely remote despite being minutes from town. This is a nature reserve in the loose sense - no visitor centre or manicured paths, just good open access to riverbank and woodland where you can actually see what's happening in the water and along the banks. Kingfishers come through here, and in winter the willows get properly hammered by the wind.

Walkers will get the most out of this place. It's not a dramatic walk - no hills to speak of - but the kind where you stop every few minutes to look at something. Anglers know it well. If you've got restless kids, an hour is probably your limit before they're asking to go back to the car. On a quiet morning in autumn it's excellent.

The whole thing is free to access, and there's not much in the way of facilities, which is partly why it's worth going. From Ludlow Touring & Holiday Home Park, just 1.7 miles away, you could easily slot this into a morning before heading into town for lunch. It works equally well as a wind-down walk from Monstay Farm Campsite if you're staying there. Best visited off-peak - weekday mornings when the light's good and other visitors are thin on the ground.
