Lewisvale Public Park

The walk into Lewisvale feels proper quiet after you've left Musselburgh behind. This nature reserve spreads across East Lothian countryside, and you're essentially trading suburban bustle for woodland paths and open grassland where you might actually hear birdsong. It's the kind of place where a morning or afternoon could slip by without you noticing, which isn't a complaint.

What you get is straightforward: a chance to walk without thinking too hard about it. The reserve has marked trails through mixed woodland and beside water features, so you're never wondering if you've taken a wrong turn. Wildlife spotters will do well here - there's genuine habitat rather than just landscaped prettiness, though it depends when you visit whether you'll see anything beyond the usual robins and wood pigeons.

This works brilliantly if you're staying at Drummohr Camping & Glamping just down the road (under two miles) or if Seton Sands feels too touristy for what you want. It's not a massive destination - two hours walking is reasonable, and families with younger kids won't get bored if expectations are realistic.
