Labyrinth

Labyrinth is a proper slice of Northumberland woodland tucked just outside Morpeth - a nature reserve that rewards a slow wander rather than a quick tick-off. The trails wind through mixed woodland and along the river, with the kind of quiet you don't often find this close to a town. It's the sort of place where you'll actually hear birds instead of traffic.

Walkers will find the most here. The paths meander through trees and open sections, giving you enough variety to stay interested for a couple of hours without feeling like you've bitten off more than you can chew. Families with younger kids might find it a bit limited if they need structured attractions - there's no playground or visitor centre, so come for the walking, not the facilities. The woodland itself is lovely for spotting wildlife, particularly if you go early morning or dusk.

Since Riverside Rothbury Holiday Park is barely a mile away, Labyrinth makes an easy addition to a caravan holiday in the area. Whitton Glebe is equally close if that's where you're staying. If you've got a day when the weather is decent and you want to get out of the caravan without traveling far, this hits the mark. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's a genuine bit of nature that feels genuinely overlooked. Worth the detour if you're in the area, rather dull as a destination in itself.
