Kirkhill Roman signal station

Kirkhill sits on a ridge just north of Perth, and what you're looking at are the earthworks of a Roman signal station that watched over the Tay Valley around 80 AD. It's not much to the untrained eye - basically a rectangular raised platform with ditches - but that's precisely the point. These stations were built to relay messages across the empire, and this one did exactly that for a few decades before the Romans withdrew north.
