Kingston's Spinney

It's a working woodland rather than a manicured country estate - the kind of place where you'll find yourself on decent paths between mature trees, spotting the occasional blaze marker to keep you honest.

The spinney itself is manageable in scale, so you're looking at anywhere from forty minutes to an hour and a half depending on how far you want to push into it. The canopy's thick enough to feel properly immersed even on grey days, and the ground's generally well-drained - important after rain when other local spots turn into mud baths. It's straightforward walking terrain, no scrambling involved, which makes it solid for families with younger legs.

Walkers will find this worth the detour if you're based at somewhere like Northfield Farm or Lakeview Caravan Park nearby. It pairs well with the broader Kettering area wandering rather than being a standalone draw - you'd struggle to make a day of it alone, but as part of a longer forest-and-field itinerary, it fits nicely.
