A small working donkey sanctuary tucked away near Hillsborough, Kinedale Donkeys is one of those places that shouldn't work on paper but absolutely does once you're there. You'll find rescued donkeys of varying ages and temperaments in a modest pastoral setting - nothing flash, no theme park nonsense, just animals and the people who care for them.

It's genuinely brilliant for families with young children. Kids get proper hands-on time with the donkeys rather than just gawping at them from a distance. The animals are used to visitors and surprisingly patient, even when being fussed over by excited toddlers. Older children might find it a bit slight if you're only stopping for thirty minutes, but an hour gives you enough time to have a real interaction.
