Kennel Plantation

Kennel Plantation is a proper woodland walk just outside Dursley in Gloucestershire, the sort of place that rewards you with quiet forest trails and room to breathe. It's not flashy or signposted to death - just straightforward trees, paths, and the kind of peace you don't get near town centres.

You're walking through established woodland here, good for stretching the legs if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks. Pepper Pot, just two miles away, makes it an easy morning sortie, or if you're glamping at Wixoldbury Farm three miles off, you've got a decent woodland escape without venturing far. The plantation itself is fairly compact - you won't need more than an hour or so unless you're taking it dead slow.

It works best for walkers who like solitude over spectacle. Families with young kids might find it a bit ordinary if they're after something more eventful, though older children who can handle a proper forest walk will be fine. There's no cafe, no facilities to speak of, so come prepared.

Access appears to be free, though you'll want to check locally in Dursley before you head out - these smaller woodlands can sometimes have inconsistent opening arrangements. The real value is in using it as a break between bigger attractions, or simply as a quiet woodland reset if you're based at one of the holiday parks nearby.
