Judd's Hill

The walk up Judd's Hill takes about twenty minutes from Faversham, and on a clear day you get proper views across the North Downs. It's nothing dramatic - this is Kent, not the Lake District - but it beats sitting in a car park. The summit itself is fairly modest, more of a raised vantage point than a dramatic peak, but that's actually the appeal. You're not jostling with crowds or navigating Alpine switchbacks. Just a straightforward local walk that rewards you with something worth seeing.

Families with younger kids will manage it without complaint. The climb isn't steep enough to kill the fun, and if you time it right you can grab a drink in Faversham afterwards without anyone melting down. Walkers doing a longer loop through the area might use it as a waypoint rather than a destination in itself - the real value is in threading it into a half-day ramble with some of the quieter footpaths round about.

If you're camping at Painters Farm - just a mile away - it's practically on your doorstep and makes for an easy morning outing before the heat kicks in. Mount Ephraim Glamping Pods, further out at 4.6 miles, works too if you want a longer ramble to justify getting the boots on. There's no charge as far as we can tell, and no specific opening hours to worry about - it's just land you walk on.

Don't expect a visitor centre or facilities. Go for the walk itself, not the destination.
