Jubilee Walk

The Jubilee Walk near Eye is a proper riverside footpath that traces a loop through some of Norfolk's quieter countryside. It's nothing flashy - just a well-maintained walking route that follows the River Wensum, with markers to guide you and enough open space to actually hear yourself think.

The walk itself takes in old water meadows and stretches of riverside that would have been familiar to people living here centuries ago. You'll pass through farmland, cross a few bridges, and if you time it right, spot herons fishing in the shallows. The whole thing's a gentle affair - no lung-busting climbs, just straightforward rambling with the occasional bench if your legs need a rest.

It's ideal for walkers who want something local without the crowds. Families with primary-school-age kids will manage it fine on a dry day, though the paths can get muddy after rain. Birdwatchers will find it worthwhile, particularly if you arrive early morning when things are quieter.

Allow a couple of hours to do the full loop without rushing. There's no admission charge that I'm aware of - it's a public footpath - so you can drop in whenever suits.
