Ingoldmells Mini-Pier

The Mini-Pier at Ingoldmells is a proper seaside oddity - a stubby concrete structure that juts out into the North Sea like someone started building a proper pier and then ran out of money halfway through. It's about as authentic as Skegness gets, frankly. You'll find it right on the beachfront, just south of Skegness town centre, and it's free to wander along. The whole thing takes maybe ten minutes to explore unless you fancy sitting on one of the benches watching the grey water roll in.

It works best for families after a beach day - kids quite like the novelty of being "out at sea" without leaving Lincolnshire. Photographers might find something worthwhile here, particularly when the light's decent or the sea's looking particularly moody. History buffs will find it less interesting than the full-size Victorian pier up at Skegness itself, mind you. This is more about the experience of being right on the water's edge.

Stay at Creekside Family Camping in Anderby or The Nurseries Caravan Site and you're well-positioned for a quick trip over. It pairs nicely with a broader Skegness holiday - the pier makes sense as a five-minute detour rather than a destination in itself. Go when it's not raining, otherwise you're just standing around in the drizzle watching other people's kites blow away.
