Hurley Daw Mill Recreation Ground

The mill stream running through Hurley Daw is what caught me first - a proper ribbon of water threading through rough grassland and scattered trees, the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think. It's a recreation ground as much as a nature reserve, so expect a working landscape rather than some manicured nature trail. Locals use it, dog walkers pass through regularly, and that everyday quality is part of its charm.

What you get here is riverside walking without the crowds. The ground itself is manageable on foot - you can circuit it comfortably in an hour or so, longer if you linger by the water watching for kingfishers or just sitting on the bank.
