Hopewell Dog Park

Your dog will lose its mind the moment you arrive at Hopewell Dog Park, just outside Knaresborough. It's a proper off-lead space where your pooch can actually run without you white-knuckling the lead, which is rarer than you'd think in North Yorkshire. The park itself is fairly straightforward - open grass, some trees for shade, and enough room that dogs can work up a proper sweat without feeling cramped. You'll find it's busiest on weekends, so weekday mornings are genuinely nicer if you can swing it.

This works brilliantly if you're based at one of the local caravan parks. Knaresborough Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite is only 2.8 miles away, and Rudding Holiday Park even closer at 4.3 miles, so it's an easy morning routine - coffee, breakfast, then straight to the park with the dog. Worth allowing at least an hour, longer if your dog's the type to faff about making mates.

Families with restless spaniels and terriers will get the most value here. Kids can run around too, though it's really about giving your dog proper exercise. It won't blow your mind as a destination in itself - you're not taking Instagram photos - but as part of a longer holiday in Knaresborough, where you've got the town centre, the viaduct, and Harrogate nearby, it does the job perfectly. A solid utility park rather than a showpiece.
