The library at Homerton College isn't one of Cambridge's showpiece buildings - you won't find tourists queuing outside with cameras - but that's rather the point. It's a working college library, proper functional, with a decent collection focused on education and the humanities. The space itself is contemporary and light, nothing like the dusty, ancient reading rooms you might expect from Cambridge. Students actually use it, which means it has that lived-in feel.

You can visit if you're genuinely interested in academic libraries or researching something specific, though access isn't entirely open-door - best to check ahead with the college directly. It's east of Cambridge city centre, which puts it on the fringes of most tourist routes. Realistically, you're not staying at Cherry Hinton Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite down the road and making this your main outing. It works as part of a broader Cambridge college walk, perhaps combined with King's or Trinity if you're doing the intellectual tour.

History types might find the college itself interesting - Homerton has been training teachers since the 1700s - but the library isn't a destination in itself. Allow maybe 30 minutes if you do visit, longer only if you've got genuine research to do. Cambridge has better libraries to see as a visitor, frankly. This one's worth knowing about if you're staying locally and want something a bit off the beaten path, but don't detour specially.
