Holst Victorian House

The composer Gustav Holst lived here in Cheltenham, and his Victorian terraced house on Pittville Street is now a small but genuine museum dedicated to his life and work. You'll see his actual study, period furnishings, and personal effects - the sort of intimate domestic details that bring a historical figure into focus. It's particularly strong if you care about classical music or early 20th-century life, though even casual visitors often find the house itself charming enough to justify the short visit.

This is fundamentally a place for music enthusiasts and Holst devotees rather than general tourists. Parents with young children might find it a bit thin on engagement - there's no interactive content, and unless your kids are already into The Planets, they'll be bored within twenty minutes. But for older teens interested in music history, or serious classical fans making a pilgrimage, it's absolutely worth an hour of your time.
