A proper woodland walk just outside Horsham, Holbrook Wood delivers exactly what it promises - dense forest, quiet paths, and the kind of peace you're after when you've had enough of Sussex's busier attractions. The trees are thick enough that you'll lose the sound of traffic within minutes, and there's genuine woodland floor underfoot rather than manicured gravel.

It's best suited to walkers who don't need much in the way of facilities or signage. You won't find a visitor centre or café here. What you get is space to wander, decent cover if the weather turns, and the sort of place where you might spot deer if you're lucky and quiet enough. A solid hour is enough to explore properly without rushing, though you could easily stretch it to two if you're in no hurry.

For campers based at Sands Farm Weekend Camping or any of the other sites within a few miles of Horsham, this makes a straightforward morning or late-afternoon outing. It works well alongside visits to nearby parks and larger attractions in the area - the kind of thing you slot in between bigger days out rather than plan a trip around. Free access and no faffing about with opening hours is a genuine bonus.
