Hillsborough Presbyterian Church

The church sits bang in the middle of Hillsborough village, impossible to miss with its solid Victorian presence and that distinctive spire. Built in 1860, it's a proper example of what Presbyterian architecture looked like when the denomination had real money and ambition. Inside, the plasterwork is genuinely impressive - ornate cornicing, a decent organ, and that specific quiet that old churches do so well.

Worth a 20-minute visit if you're already in the village, which honestly most caravan folk from Lakeside View will be at some point. It's free to pop in, though opening hours seem to vary depending on who's around. The church is still very much a working community space, not a museum piece, which gives it a lived-in feel that's often missing from heritage attractions.

The real draw, though, is Hillsborough itself. The village green, the courthouse, the castle ruins - it all clusters around here in a way that rewards a proper wander. If you're touring Lisburn and Castlereagh, you'd add this to the village loop rather than making a special trip. The churchyard is pleasant for a sit-down if the weather holds.
