Hendra Skate Park Truro

The concrete bowls and quarter-pipes at Hendra are what you'd expect from a proper skate park - well-maintained, fairly busy most afternoons, and absolutely free to use. It's in Truro itself, so no trekking out to some industrial estate. There's a decent spread of features: street course for the technical tricks, a bowl that draws the keener riders, and enough flat space that absolute beginners won't feel completely lost. The real crowd here is skaters and BMX riders aged roughly 8 to 25. If your kids are scooter enthusiasts, they'll get an hour's worth of entertainment easily enough. On a wet day - and this is Cornwall, so that happens - it becomes a puddle with ramps.

It's free to use, no time limits that I'm aware of, and you can show up whenever. Best visited mid-afternoon when it's busy enough to have energy but not rammed shoulder-to-shoulder. Works brilliantly as a half-day stop if you're based at Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite or Trevarth Holiday Park nearby. Both are within a few miles, making it a quick drive if the weather turns decent and your lot fancies an outing.

Not a destination in itself, but a solid addition to a Truro-based holiday. Families with non-skaters won't find much reason to linger. Head into Truro's town centre instead for the cathedral and shops. Worth knowing about if you've got teenagers with boards, less so otherwise.
