You'll find gym equipment, swimming pools, fitness classes, and various indoor courts - the kind of place locals rely on rather than something you'd plan a day around unless you're genuinely after a workout or a swim. It's worth knowing about if you're staying at Poolsbrook Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, barely half a mile away, and fancy a dip without driving anywhere. The pools are the main draw for families with kids, honestly. Opening hours and admission fees aren't widely advertised online, so ring ahead before you go - nothing worse than turning up expecting a swim only to find it's closed for a school group. For walkers and outdoor types, it's not really the point of a Derbyshire holiday. You'd be better off spending time at Rother Valley Country Park five miles down the road, which offers proper countryside walking and vastly more atmosphere. That said, if the weather turns grim and the kids are climbing the tent walls, this place does the job. Allow a couple of hours if you're doing a pool session. It's functional rather than special, but sometimes functional is exactly what you need.
