The path winds through mixed woodland where the air feels properly damp and alive, particularly after rain. Healing Wood Walk, just outside Eye in Suffolk, is a quiet nature reserve that rewards you if you go in with low expectations and sturdy boots.

It's ancient woodland mostly - oak, ash, hazel - the sort of place where you notice things by stillness rather than spectacle.
