Haven Cliffs

The red sandstone cliffs at Haven rise up sharply from the shingle beach just outside Seaton, and they're impossible to miss once you're down on the shore. Walk east from the town centre along the beach and you'll see them looming proper impressive against the sky - layered bands of rust and orange rock that glow warm in afternoon light.

They're not the highest cliffs on the Devon coast by a long stretch, but there's something satisfying about their scale and the way they're accessible without needing serious hiking boots. The beach access is straightforward, and the cliffs themselves make for good photography or just a quiet sit-down spot if you fancy escaping the busier parts of Seaton. Geologically they're interesting too - Triassic sandstone with visible fault lines if you know what to look for.

Walkers will appreciate the coastal path that runs above the cliffs, linking nicely with routes toward Beer to the west. It's the kind of place families will visit once while staying nearby rather than making a special trip across Devon for, but that doesn't make it any less worth your time. The beach shelves reasonably, though it's shingly rather than sandy. Allow an hour to potter about and soak it in properly.

If you're based at Beer Head Holiday Park or Oakdown Touring, Haven Cliffs is close enough for a morning's outing before heading further afield. No facilities right there, so grab coffee in Seaton first.
