Havant Park

The moment you step onto the paths at Havant Park, you're surrounded by proper wetland - reedy marshes, open water, and the kind of quiet that makes you actually notice birdsong. It's a nature reserve that doesn't shout about itself, which is exactly why it works. You'll spot everything from lapwings to little egrets if you're patient, and the walking trails are gentle enough that kids won't complain after the first twenty minutes. The reserve sits just inland from Hayling Island, so it's an easy hop from the seafront crowds if you want something with a bit more wildness to it. Allow a couple of hours to properly explore - longer if you've got binoculars and the patience to sit and watch. The paths can get boggy after rain, so decent shoes are a must.
