This is very much a members' club, though visiting golfers can get access if they're affiliated with another club or have a decent handicap. It's not the sort of place you can just turn up and play, so ring ahead first. The course itself demands respect - it's challenging without being punishing, and the views alone make the round feel worthwhile even if your scorecard doesn't cooperate.

You'll need to allow a full four hours minimum, longer if the course is busy. The greens fees for visitors aren't cheap, but you're paying for a proper Yorkshire course with genuine character. Weekday mornings tend to be quieter if you've got flexibility.

Finish your round and you've got the town itself on your doorstep - decent pubs, riverside walks, and the gorge if you fancy stretching your legs after eighteen. Non-golfers in your group won't feel left out, as Knaresborough itself is worth a proper explore.
