Hampton Loade Residential Park

The River Severn winds through this stretch of Shropshire countryside like it's got nowhere in particular to be, and Hampton Loade is the sort of place where you actually don't mind getting stuck there with it. This residential park sits right on the riverbank near Bridgnorth, and while it's primarily a static caravan and mobile home community, the setting itself - all mature trees, open water, and proper peace and quiet - makes it worth knowing about if you're cycling or walking the Severn Valley Way through the area.

The appeal here is fundamentally about the location rather than visitor attractions in the traditional sense. The river views are genuinely good. There's a sense of being away from it all without actually being in the middle of nowhere - Bridgnorth is close enough for supplies and a decent pub. If you're staying at Stanmore Hall Touring Park just down the road, this is a pleasant spot to loop round on a walk, though access may be limited since it's primarily residential.

Walkers benefit most from the riverside setting and the quiet. Families with very young children might find it a bit tame unless they're after somewhere genuinely tranquil. The Severn Valley is excellent cycling country, and this marks a natural waypoint on longer routes through Shropshire.

It's free to pass through the area on public rights of way, though obviously you're not pitching up in the park itself unless you've got a caravan. Best visited during the warmer months when the riverside really shines. Early autumn is actually lovely - the crowds thin out and the light gets interesting.
