About Hallr Wood
This is woodland for the sake of woodland. No visitor centre, no interpretation boards, no gift shop. You get trees, paths, and if you're lucky, a bit of peace. The walks are gentle enough for families with younger kids, though older ones might find it a touch dull after half an hour if they're not the naturalist type. Dog walkers love it here, and so do birdwatchers who know their stuff.
There's no entrance fee that I could pin down, and it's the sort of place you can pop in and out of as you please. Allow an hour for a leisurely loop, longer if you're stopping to spot wildlife or just sitting on a fallen log. Spring's lovely when the bluebells come through.
If you're camping at Orchard Farm or Long Hazel Park nearby, Hallr Wood makes for a proper morning sortie before heading back for a late breakfast. It's close enough to Glastonbury that you can combine it with the town itself, but far enough away to escape the spiritual tourist circuit entirely. Don't expect drama. Expect trees doing what trees do best.
