It's the kind of thing that works brilliantly if you're genuinely interested in how artists use space and materials, and considerably less so if you're just ticking off attractions before lunch.

It's free, which is excellent, though parking and access details aren't entirely clear online so ringing ahead is sensible. Families with young children might find the walking aspect tedious rather than rewarding, unless they're already art-curious.

Its location near Milton Keynes makes it an easy addition to a park holiday based at somewhere like Gullivers Campsite or Adventurer's Village. Both are within a mile, so you could combine this with their other facilities without much driving about. Worth the detour if contemporary art's your thing; less essential if you're after the more obvious Northamptonshire attractions.
